Homecomings and Other Henrie Happenings

On February 27th, the Flory family (my family) and us five little Henries piled into my parents' Suburban and headed to Salt Lake City Airport to greet (and meet, for the littlest of us) Elder Braden Flory, who returned from a faithful two years in the Massachusetts, Boston Mission. It's a good thing that the events of that morning didn't occur any differently.
As soon as we reached the waiting area by the escalators--a bit before the plane was supposed to arrive--my sister, McKenna, and I took Stockton to the bathroom. While we were relieving ourselves, we heard our mom's voice echoing through the bathroom.
"McKenna!" A smile evident not only on her face, but in her vocal chords. "He's here!"
"WHAT?!" McKenna and I performed the quickest bathroom stop and hand washing in the history of public restroom visits and burst back into the waiting area.
There he was, ironed suit and bright tie, hugging family and laughing with them. Apparently, as soon as Cam, Dad, Nate, Parker, and Deacon had entered the waiting area, Braden was nearing the bottom of the escalator.
As I said, it's a good thing that that morning didn't go any differently.

Stockton was only 5 months old when Braden left, and had only heard of him from older brother, Parker. It didn't take long for him to get used to Bub though (as is shown below)! The boys and I (Cam went back to work) stayed the week in Wallsburg with my family, and had a fun time with them.
Braden and Nate took Parker and Stockton to play in the snow (the first snow play day of the year! Yes, in March), and they made a snowman named Frosty. Or Olaf. I don't recall.

Parker wants to be just like Uncle Bub and serve a mission one day!

In other news, Parker has added one more chore to his list: sweeping. Every evening (that we remember to tell him) he sweeps while Stockton moves chairs for him. He was pretty excited when this picture was taken. But I can assure you that he isn't nearly this ecstatic to sweep now.

Speaking of Parker, we have procrastinated terribly on the whole bike riding thing. So, with a little help from some $5 Wal-Mart training wheels, warm weather, and his daddy, Parker is finally starting to get the whole pedaling motion down. We're hoping by the end of the summer, he'll be riding his bike (sans training wheels) like a pro!

And last, but not least, Cam brought home a surprise for the whole family on Monday, March 23rd...

ENTER KWAKU!!!

Yeah, that's KWAY-koo. :) It's Ghanaian for Wednesday born. And since Cam served his mission in Ghana, and this German Shepherd/Black Lab mix was born on a Wednesday, it fit. And the boys liked it.
Kwaku was the runt of the litter, the favorite of the owners, and the most calm of the bunch. He's very mellow for a puppy and loves to follow us everywhere. I must admit, it has been SUPER cute watching him observe the boys' every move and chase after them, hefting his huge paws into the air before slapping them to the ground again.
I think he'll be a good dog for our family. He's been fun so far. And with this warm weather, we're loving life!
