S Day

As you can see, S Day started with a coloring project and talking of each of the things on the paper. Parker had his friend, AJ, over that day. Hence, the two pictures.

 

I also let Parker play in some soapy water with a straw. As you can tell. Yeah, these captions are kinda pointless... :)

Okay, but for the next activity that we did, I will admit that I saw it awhile ago on some awesome girl's blog, and I saved it for S Day. Here goes:

My spider

Parker's spider...

...with a little help from me on drawing the legs.

I then strung some string around the room to mimic a spider web, and pinned the spiders on the web. They had to get from one side of the room to the other without touching the web. I later pinned some toy monkeys to the strings and they had to save them before the spiders got them.
Well, Parker is Parker... and he didn't like the activity much. Especially when I kept saying in a concerned voice, "Don't touch the web! Don't touch the web!" Yeah... it was kinda scary for him. Bad mommy... :)

So! This one proved to be a bit better. They had to get through it without touching the STRING. Forget it's a web now. It's a lot less scary.

 Other activities we did were: making snowflakes, going down the slide at the park, and playing Simon Says. "Simon says: stand, sit, stoop, spin, sigh, swallow, and touch your shin."

Fenced In

On October 17, Cam's dad, Allen, came over with his Bobcat, and we used it to drill post holes. For the next few weeks, Cam and I (mostly Cam as I chased boys) put the boards between the posts.

 

We ordered some slats from Frandsens in Panguitch, and on November 16, nine awesome guys from our incredibly awesome ward put them in for us. In about four hours, our fence was near complete!

We still have to put two gates in and finish one section in the front. But a project that would have taken us weeks by ourselves was finished in just four hours, and we are so grateful!

Oh, you know... I just thought these clouds were cool...

Letters (N, O, P, Q, and R)

Yes, I need to catch up. Here's a quick review of the letters we have done since October...

N Day

We worked with numbers by playing hopscotch, and Parker traced the letter on the sidewalk. We also did Nascar races--it had to do with cars, so Parker was happy-- and watched a documentary on narwhals, which was quite... interesting. And then it came time for my favorite activity for N Day: nap time.

O Day

Apparently, O Day didn't merit any pictures. We simply watched documentaries on owls and octopuses... and that's all I can remember..

P Day

There are a ton of fun things to do on P Day because tons of crafts start with P. All I can remember us doing is eating lots of pears, peaches, and pineapple, painting, and playing with play dough.

Q Day

This day was one of our favorites. We went on a quest to find the queen's quill. I hid a paper question mark around the house, and every time Parker found it, I asked a question that gave a clue as to what our next section of the quest would be. 

The sections included: a quiet section, a quick section, a section where we had to find a quail, a find-a-quiver-of-arrows section, a shoot-the-quail-for-dinner section, and a find-a-quarter section. 

At the end, we found the quill. But a mean witch--me--wouldn't let Parker have it.

Parker burst into terrified tears. I guess I'm more of a witch then I thought! Ha, ha.

After I got him calmed down, he had to pay a quarter to the witch to get the quill and then present it to the queen.

Parker asked to do it again, so I say it was a success!

And the quill! He hasn't started crying yet... :)

R Day

We watched a short segment on rhinos, rams, and--because it was close to Christmas--reindeer. We also did a few tracing and coloring activities and then played robots. PH3.3, SH1.3, and MOM25 were our robot names. Ha ha.
